laughter

The definition of laughter is:

  1. The act of laughing.
  2. The sound produced by laughing.
  3. A cause or subject for laughter.
  4. A mode of expressing mirth, consisting chiefly in certain convulsive and partly involuntary actions of the muscles of respiration, by means of which, after an inspiration, the expulsion of the air from the chest in a series of jerks produces a succession of short abrupt sounds, accompanied by certain movements of the muscles of the face, and often of other parts of the body, and, when excessive, by tears: also sometimes applied to any expression of merriment perceivable in the countenance.

Children age 4 laugh approximately 300 times a day. A 40 year old laughs maybe 20. I had started this blog when I first read this fact (I love my random facts) and thought about it. Was 20 a lot or was 20 on the low side?

So I decided to count my laughter and I realized something. Charley Waffle was guilty of giving me about 17 laughs a day, which makes her guilty of the majority of my laughter.

That is why I decided to write about her. I absolutely love #4,” when excessive, by tears; also sometimes applied to any expression of merriment perceivable in the countenance.”

I asked some people to count how many times they laughed a day. It will be interesting to see.

I’m gonna go hang out with Charley now to get some laughter in my day.
She always pulls through.
