Alaska currently does have 3,000,000 unnamed natural lakes, and 3,197 named natural lakes. That is a lot of lakes. Alaska is home to 40 percent of the nations surface water.

Most of Alaska’s lakes are valleys made from glaciers. They can get incredibly deep, and I found out that Lake Clark is over 1,054 feet deep! That is about 97 stories high!

I’d be scared to swim in that thing, and definitely wouldn’t want Charley to go for a dive. To me that lake is super scary deep! Who knows what the heck could be lurking in that body of water!
