The traditional recipe of Akutaq is a mixture of caribou or moose meat oil and fat, and white fish, like cod or pike with a variety of berries such as blueberries and cranberry and salmonberry, and prickly rose, and a mixture of ice. And fresh snow.

The term “Akutaq” means to “mix them together”.


I have not had the experience of trying this ice cream, but I read it can taste salty and gamey if you have the more meat style, or tastes like rhubarb if it is more on the berry side.
I wonder if Charley or other dogs would like this ice cream? I bet she would.
