“Most sloths poop just once a week.

National Geographic Kids, 5,000 Awesome Facts

It’s pretty much a known fact that sloths are very slow in their movements and they love to hang from trees with their forearms. However, like most mammals, nature calls.

Because they spend most their times hanging out one would think they would just drop where they hang.

Not the case. Sloths somehow gather up the get to and crawl down the tree where they defecate and do a little dance at the base of the tree. Once a week.

They will do their thing and end up doing a little jig (called the poo dance) after they are done, and then bury what they’ve left behind. Scientists believe that the reason for climbing down the tree and doing what they do at the base is a way of communication. Telling other sloths if they are in heat, or where there is danger, or other things of significance.

Their poop looks like little brown round pellets.

Because it takes a sloth a month to digest a single leaf it would only seem that one time a week would suffice.
