Ever since we got back from our wonderful vacation in Sequim, WA, there seems to be a feeling of, I don’t know…maybe sadness. Or forlorn. Or I can’t quite think of the adjective.
A lot of it could be me with the sadness but I feel so guilty after living on 5 acres with trails and forest around us for 5 days only to come back home to an apartment in the city.
I’ve been trying to make it up to them by taking Charley out a ridiculous amount of times to play, and with Stella I bought catnip and some of those Delectable Delicious, whatever they are called, to make myself feel better I believe. But, in all seriousness, those Delectable tubes were amazing. They are actually called “Lickable CAT TREATS” with the flavor of chicken puree. I bought the ones by Luvsome but I’m sure there are other brands that make them because they are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I already said that. But I’ve never seen her so into sitting on my lap on call when I have one of those in my hands. I feel I’ve got the power over her, instead of vice versa. I found out if I freeze them they last longer and keep her loving on me for awhile until it’s gone. Then she just turns back into her cat ways, in which is I am invisible until she says so. Nah, she’s still a really good kitty-boo.
For Charley I bought these bone marrow bones you can get in the frozen section of the grocery store. They are perfect for her because I can give them straight out of the bag to her, frozen, or I can heat them up just a little bit to make the marrow inside a little bit soft. However I find when I heat them up they don’t last as long. She’s able to get the marrow out very quickly and the thrill does not last long. She’s able to have these bones because they do not splinter nor can she eat them whole. After the little meat is off of them and the marrow is gone, I end up filling the empty center full of pate and freeze them. They become frozen pate popsicles.
There is also a recipe on the back for a great beef broth to be made from the bones. However, I’ve not managed to do that because I end up giving all of them to Charley.
Another thing that lasts for awhile with her is these beef tongue rolls from Mud Bay. They only cost $8.99 and last for a long, long time. I’ve bought 3 of them however since we’ve been back.
I also have been bringing them a treat every time I get home. Bad idea.
I’ve been spoiling these 2 since we have returned, and what’s going to happen is it’s only going to be harder for me in the long run due to expectations.
I think I’ve realized though is that I put those expectations for more on me and my guilty feelings. They really are ok without having to spoil them like I have been. They’ve seemed to get back into the regular swing of things, just I haven’t! Maybe I need to buy myself some treats instead.
