The other day I had an itching to watch horror/suspense/thriller movies. This also means that Charley and Stella are going to watch them with me. Stella just wandered off, while Charley was my faithful friend.

I’ve been told that dogs (I don’t know about cats) are happy as long as you are happy. I’m not sure if that is the case when it comes to horror/suspense movies.

I noticed that certain loud sounds in movies would bother her. Actually, certain loud sounds bothered me but I still would look at Charley to see if she was okay. She seemed fine as she was sleeping, or pretending, to sleep right next to me while I was engulfed in my movie watching experience.

We decided to watch the movie US, and the movie GET OUT. They are older movies by a couple years, but they happened to be running back to back and I was already in the mood to movie watch.

The one thing I did notice is at extremely tense and suspenseful moments in the movie Charley would get up and look at me, no, stare at me, with her ears up and her eyes alert. I didn’t notice it at first because I was too absorbed. I realized when I felt her staring at me that my face was expressing some distress and anxiety.

I realized then that maybe Charley might mind horror movies because of my reaction, and she gets extremely concerned when I seemed a bit tense.

She would literally stare at me 100%. She didn’t jump or react with the loud noises, which I happened to turn down the volume so it’s not so frightful for me. She didn’t even notice Stella sauntering into the room. (surprise!)It was her total and absolute concern.

I figure now I have to curtail my horror movie experiences, or at least try to mask my face. Maybe wear sunglasses and a face mask. I dunno.

All I do know is it was very endearing and I realized she is happy when I’m happy, and concerned if she senses some distress on my part. She’s so cute.

So I am going to make it up to her by letting her watch DOG TV all day. Maybe that will put us both at ease.
