Nothing really happened different this morning except I got annoyed with Charley even though I knew it was me I should’ve been annoyed with.

We arrived at the University early in the morning before anyone else and played ball in our usual spot. Then, we decided to move to another area. As we headed there, she picked up her ball, and suddenly, she saw a bunny.

Holy cow. Talk about a bat out of hell. She went running after it like something crazy and went darting in and out of bushes chasing this dang little thing. She in not a SQUIRREL dog, she’s a BUNNY dog.

And, no, she never catches one. She’s in for the chase.

In the process of chasing after the bunny she dropped her ball. Her only ball that we (her & I) have for her.

After reigning her in I happened to notice that the ball that had been in her mouth was missing. I asked where it went and told her to find it. We spent 20 minutes searching through bushes for the ball, but we ended up leaving without it. Ugh.

I was really annoyed with her and said, “Looks like no ball time tomorrow, Charley. What were you thinking? Now what? That’s what you get for chasing a bunny…” It was just silly on my part, I think I was projecting.

I later noticed I was just annoyed with myself. She was off-leash near bunnies, and I didn’t take the ball from her after we played. I let her keep it because she looked so proud and cute with it in her mouth.

The next morning, we went on our usual outing to the University again. I was a bit short with her. We went to our usual fields but I had no ball to play with her. I kept saying, “Sorry, Charley, we don’t have a ball….” She seemed not to care. She grabbed a stick and started throwing it up in the air and running in circles.

We started to leave when all of a sudden she disappeared into some bushes and lo and behold, she came out with her ball in her mouth.

What a jerk. What a clever jerk. I hadn’t mentioned that I ordered 2 more Chuck-It balls from Amazon the day before we lost the last one.

So now we have a total of 3 balls for her to play with, although I won’t be telling her about the other two. I swear this dog is super scary smart and I also swear she did her little shenanigans did get my goat because she wasn’t ready to leave that day.
