I learned about copyright laws and realized I can’t post from Chameleon Aura anymore. It’s disappointing. Even if I give credit to the author, it’s still not allowed. I didn’t know this before, and now I can’t share the full quote I wanted to discuss. Giving praise doesn’t mean I have the right to use it.
I find that disappointing, but I understand. I want to share ideas from others without facing issues, so I’ll create something original or briefly quote what I’ve read.
I found this out because I was about to quote something from “The Book of Viking Poetry of the English-Speaking World” but wanted to look into it further if I could write and publish one of the poems.
Here are the copyright laws: https://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/faq-fairuse.html
Basically nobody can write or quote somebody’s work without their permission. It’s infringement.
There’s a long list of no-no’s and I posted the link for anyone who is interested in seeing what can and can’t be posted.
I’ll stick to my original material, even though I wanted to explore other things I’ve read.
Oh well. I wanted to share a few poems from the book of Viking Poetry because they are absolutely fascinating. I guess I can quote a few lines though.
I was going to share “Bring Us in Good Ale….” from the 15th Century. I’ll do a small quote;
“Bring us in no butter, for therein are many heres, Now bring us in no pigges flesch, for that will make us bores, But bring us in good ale!”
I read you can do small quotes, so I slipped this in…..
Anyway this book is amazing that I found and I wanted to share it with whoever would listen but I am limited. Please check out copyright laws that I didn’t research on printed material before posting. I’m too scared to get in trouble. Even if nobody reads this….
