I feel like I am ancient. I actually rent movies from the library. I don’t want to pay for Paramount PLUS, HBO MAX, Amazon PRIME plus, or whatever it is called. I will admit I have an Amazon Prime NORMAL membership but that is only because I’ve taken advantage of the lower people rate at 5.99 a month. Which I do appreciate. I love my Prime button on my remote so I can watch THE UNEXPLAINED (love William Shatner) , PARANORMAL NIGHTMARES (except I don’t really watch that one because it is cheesy to me. Especially when they throw in CELEBRITY PARANORMAL EXPERIENCES – those are soo ridiculous to me) I love ANCIENT ALIENS with that guy with the crazy hair. Giorgio A. TuTsoukalas. He’s awesome. And BUZZFEED UNSOLVED with those two guys, Ryan Pergara and Shane Madjeg that look into unsolved (hence the title) situations. But, they are older episodes from 3 to 4 years ago. I suppose they were originally on one of the high paid program station originally. Don’t know. Just got cable 7 years ago.
But I recently had to rent House of Dragons Season Two -because I don’t have HBO MAXX…..from the library. And it was funny to me because I was talking to somebody I always talk to ( but I guess not in a you-are-my-best-friend way) and they gave me a pity look like, (“Aww… I don’t want to tell them I have all services) look. I told him that I liked going to the library for movies because there are ones that I would have never thought to look at. Seriously, there are ones that I would never think to plug into my search thing on my remote t.v. to look for. Like, “QUEEN KELLY – THE RESTORED MASTERPIECE”, or “FAUST”, a Masterpiece of German Silent Film”, starring Emil Jannings. “CONFESSIONS OF A NAZI SPY” with my favorite Edward G. Robinson. Like, where the heck would I have ever known about these movies unless I had gone to the library and looked through their collection of movies to rent. It’s not like I will look up Queen Kelly or FAUST on my search mode on my t.v. It just looked like something I can’t access anywhere else.
So there is something to be said about libraries. Even books. I can roam the halls of the library and get immersed in so many different biographies I want to read, mysteries, adventures, Stephen King novels that I’ve never seen come out. So many things. Access the internet, which I’ve done when I didn’t have access to when I was homeless. Things like that. To me, libraries are a thing comparable to a whole day of adventure for the mind. Things to be discovered that you never thought of.
And to check out movies. Charley loves movie time. Even Stella Vader comes out of hiding and perches behind us when we are watching a movie that has been checked out from the library. It’s a family affair.
I don’t know where this post was going, but I think I want to give libraries a shout out. And that I was able to watch House of the Dragon commercial and cost free because of them.
For some reason though, I don’t like to see the dragons get killed. It bothers me. Which is better? House of Dragons or Game of Thrones? House of Dragons season 1 was phenomenal. But Game of Thrones still reigns as my favorite. We shall see once I RENT House of Dragons season 3 from the LIBRARY.
