76 station jumping trains to a sad

We went into this 76 station and there was a guy behind the counter that wasn’t our regular dude. I got to talking to him. He told me he’d been working there as long as our regular guy but he had taken a year off to travel. I asked him where. He said he went to Europe and stayed in France, went to Italy. He’s got family over there. He also backpacked across the United States. He then told me that was the first time he got arrested

. “Why?” He answered, “For jumping the train. In New Mexico.” “They still do that?” “Yes. I got into a coal box”. Wow. They were open? One was, but I just rode on athe top.” ??????? They don’t go that fast. I got caught a few stops later.” Wow. I told him I’d love to do that just for shits and giggles.

Is that cool or what? REBEL. I said to him “ Just like 007?”

James Bond on a train

Battery dying. To be continued …….

Later on, across the street, we stopped at the Wallingford food bank. Really great people work/volunteer there that I’ve seen for years. It’s part of Family Works, an organization that hooks up families/individuals in resources such as financial aid, housing, food, clothing, bus passes, jobs, etc. They are amazing in and around the community, and have helped me as well as people that I know, and met, when struggling with hard times/situations. They are currently assisting in the relocation of people leaving Afghanistan.

This one gal, Anisa Nun, worked for Family Works, and we had gotten relatively close, but I hadn’t seen her for a long time. It just so happened that on this day she appeared. I didn’t recognize her at first, but she came up to me and we started catching up on personal news. I told her I didn’t think she worked there anymore because I hadn’t seen her. She said she had to take some personal time off. There was a death in her family. My condolences, may I ask who? ……HER SON….. 15 YEARS OLD….

Wait? How? DROWNED. In Greenlake.

I suddenly remembered hearing something about a kid drowning about 3 or 4 months ago.

I was horrified. And so saddened. I think I said, “oh my Fuc… that was your son?

She went on to say that they think somebody pushed him. He was found by the dock with his pants rolled up. He was prepared to go wading. They didn’t find him for 2 1/2 days. TWO AND A HALF DAYS!!!!

She has 3 daughters, and that was her only son. First born.

I didn’t even know what to say. I remained in shock for a good minute. I’m still in shock. That is so sad. She is such a cool person. Wow. I think that is the only person I directly know who has lost a child.

Man, say a prayer for her. Her name is ANISA NUN.

He drowned. At Greenlake.
